Kenfield Bay Project | Long-Range
Management Plan | Water Level Report

by Al Hoover, Chair
Environmental Protection Fund
Tmla
Agreed to Purchase the Anderson
property in Kenfield Bay in 1998, after a real estate agent had planned a 12-lot
development on the site. The TMLA Board began negotiations with the developer
and purchased the property for $170,000
As
of July 10, 2002, we still have a
balance due on the Contract for Deed of $60,570. Of this amount, $54,337 is due
on July 10, 2003. We currently have $44,590 in the James W. Schwartz
environmental Protection Fund. We must raise $15,980 by July 10, 2003. If each
of 666 members were to give $24 extra this year, the Kenfield Bay property would
be paid for. Since some may not be able to contribute at all, we hope that some
will be able to provide larger donations. Please note that none of the
Kenfield Bay funding has been taken from TMLA dues.
The
Board Recommends that you give
serious consideration to participation in this worthwhile project.

THE TMLA LONG-RANGE MANAGEMENT
PLAN
by Marty McCleaery, Chair
Healthy Lakes Program
The
Healthy Lakes Program) Committee (HLP), in
coordination with other Ten Mile Lake Association (TMLA) officers, directors,
and committees, has updated the Ten Mile Lake Long Range Management Plan (TMLLRMP).
Please take a close look at the draft of this plan that is enclosed with this
Newsletter. The plan is organized into long-term goals for the period
2003-2050, and objectives and strategies for the period 2003-2005 to help TMLA
move toward these goals. It is a living document that can be updated as
necessary to help us meet our goals. HLP will present the plan for review,
discussion, and, we hope, approval at the August annual meeting.
HLP
Has Worked Hard to capture the ideas
of everyone interested in the long-range planning process. Once approved, the
plan will serve as a basis for seeking participation and, where appropriate,
funding to carry our the various initiatives. It is an ambitious plan, but HLP
believes it is on the right track and that we have the resources within the
membership and interested agencies to achieve these goals. We hope you will
agree!
We
Welcome Participation by all of the
TMLA membership in working toward these goals. We are always looking for persons
who have the time and interest to serve on the various TMLA Committees. If you
can help, please contact any of the officers, directors, or committee chairs
listed in the box on the left. Work on these committees can be very rewarding as
well as a lot of fun!
Meanwhile,
please review the draft TMLLRMP, and plan to attend the annual meeting to share
your ideas with the HLP Committee, and the officers, directors, and members of
TMLA.
Please
direct any questions to Mr. Martin McCleery, HLP Chairman, 3975 Lower Ten
Mile Lake Road, Hackensack, MN 56942.
Telephone: (218) 675-6908.
